By: E&P Staff The 30th-anniversary "Garfield" book will be published Oct. 28 by Ballantine.
Jim Davis' comic -- which runs in about 2,500 newspapers via Universal Press Syndicate -- actually reached its three-decade milestone this past June.
The upcoming hardcover is called "Garfield: 30 Years of Laughs & Lasagna."
Oct. 28 is also when Ballantine will publish a "Garfield Minus Garfield" paperback featuring Dan Walsh's webcomic. As the name makes obvious, Walsh's strip removes Garfield from comics the cartoon cat was originally in, leaving the Jon character surrealistically talking to himself.
In other "Garfield" happenings, the French post office recently unveiled a new series of stamps and stamp booklets featuring the cartoon cat. Six million stamps were printed.
