By: Staff reports ABC Boots Up Unusual Webzine Series
(The Hollywood Reporter) ABC Entertainment is developing an ambitious reality series
with Bunim/Murray Productions revolving around the staff of a New York-based start-up
online magazine. The goal is to have the Webzine serve as an online promotional
companion for the untitled TV series and vice versa.
Bunim-Murray is set to begin a casting search next month in New York for seven to 10
journalists who will create the lifestyle/entertainment magazine and be featured in
the series, which also will delve into their private lives.
'We think this is a truly unique concept for television,' ABC Entertainment vice
president alternative series and specials Andrea Wong said. 'It will take ABC into a
new realm of storytelling that fully integrates online and broadcast content.' ABC
envisions the show traveling to Los Angeles, Chicago and other cities over time, though
the network has not yet made an episodic commitment to the project.
Bunim/Murray, best known for creating MTV's 'Real World,' also produces ABC's 'Making
the Band' reality series.
