'Abby' Gets More Hopeful Letter From Distraught Mother

Posted
By: E&P Staff A distraught mother who sent a letter to "Dear Abby" seems to be doing better, according to a San Diego Union-Tribune story.

In a letter published in the Aug. 24 "Abby" column, the San Diego woman had said she was fearful of hurting a baby she didn't want. The woman didn't include a name, address, or phone number with her letter, so all "Abby" writer Jeanne Phillips could do was publicly urge her to get help. Also, many people contacted the Union-Tribune to offer aid and express concern.

Now the newspaper reports that Phillips has received another letter from the woman, who said she's improving with the help of a doctor and medication.

"Dear Abby" is distributed by Universal Press Syndicate.
