By: Jennifer Saba The Audit Bureau of Circulations is shoring up its Canadian office by appointing Joan Brehl in the newly appointed position of vice president/general manager for brand innovation, effective Aug. 4.
Brehl will take a major role in leading ABC's Canadian operations. She will oversee marketing and sales strategies, identify new business opportunities and will handle relations with ABC's existing and potential Canadian members.
"I am pleased to welcome Joan to ABC's leadership team," Mike Lavery, president and managing director of ABC, said in a statement. "Her depth of experience and knowledge of publishing and advertising are a boon to ABC and its members."
Brehl has spent 18 years as an executive of Time Canada's Publishing Group serving most recently as its publisher. She also worked at the advertising agency PHD, formerly Harrison Young Pesonen & Newell.
Brehl will be at ABC's first meeting of the Canada Board Committee, which takes place on July 16 in Toronto as well as board of directors meeting in Chicago July 22-24.
The organization came under considerable
fire last year from major Canadian publishers for not seeking their input on circulation matters.
