By: A Duluth, Minn., newspaper executive has been named publisher of the Aberdeen American News by Knight Ridder Inc., the parent company of both papers.
Jerome Ferson, 32, is vice president of administration for the Duluth News Tribune, where he has worked since 1999.
"I'm thrilled to have the position and I'm ready to become educated about the community and the issues that face it," Ferson said.
"I enjoy the role that a daily newspaper plays in a community. It allows people to be informed on the issues."
Ferson grew up near Rochester, Minn., and started working at the Post-Bulletin when he was 16. "When I started at the Post-Bulletin, I overlooked the press room and said to myself that I would run the room someday."
Ferson and his wife, Ranae, have two daughters.
