Ad revenue at 'Dallas Morning News' Sinks

By: E&P Staff Newspaper advertising revenue at Belo took a hit during the month of August, decreasing 1.4%.

Revenue at The Dallas Morning News, which has been hit by a circulation scandal, was down 3.5% and advertising revenue sank 5.3%. Retail fell 9.3% due to weakness in the grocery, furniture, and department store categories. General advertising decreased 10.6%. Classified revenue also slipped 3.4%.

Advertising revenue at The Providence Journal increased 4% but total full-run ROP lineage dropped 2.4%. Classified volume was up 5.9% while retail sank to 9.4%.
