AFP Head Eveno Stepping Down

Posted
By: E&P Staff Bertrand Eveno has resigned as head of Agence France-Presse (AFP).

Eveno, 61, said he's stepping down -- effective no later than year's end -- for personal reasons. He had served as AFP's chairman and CEO since 2000.

His announcement came as AFP's staff voted to criticize a management decision to turn over photos to Corsican police that showed an officer being attacked by demonstrators, according to The Associated Press.

The Paris-based AFP is the third largest news agency behind AP and Reuters.
