After 40 years, journalist Phil Kincade leaves legacy of leadership. NH Press Association seeks next director.

Phil Kincade knew since he was in the sixth grade that he wanted to be a journalist. He worked for his high school paper, and was editor of his summer camp newspaper. 

After he got his journalism degree from Indiana University, he headed straight to Foster’s Daily Democrat in New Hampshire.

“I worked there for about 33 years, doing just about everything there is to do,” Kincade said.

Kincade covered county commissioner meetings, worked as a city hall beat reporter, covered the State House and served as the editorial page editor. Then, in 1995, having a hunch that the Internet would become a big deal, he threw himself into digital, helping the paper launch its first website, which became one of the first in the state.
