By: E&P Staff At a time when client lists of many established syndicated features remain static at best, it sure helps to win a Pulitzer Prize.
This April, editorial cartoonist Nick Anderson had 48 newspapers after about decade of syndication with the Washington Post Writers Group (WPWG). Then, The Courier-Journal of Louisville staffer won a 2005 Pulitzer, and his list increased to 70 newspapers (including 15 Spanish-language ones) as of this month.
WPWG Editorial Director/General Manager Alan Shearer called the 22-client jump "amazing for an editorial cartoonist," even with a Pulitzer factored in. Shearer noted that editorial cartoons can be a tough sell these days.
