By: E&P Staff Agfa, based in Mortsel, Belgium, has announced it intends to centralize North American plate manufacturing at its Branchburg, N.J., plant, where the company will produce Lastra/Western Litho plates.

The Lastra plant in Jacksonville, Texas, will close by mid-2005. Assuring no customer-service interruptions, it called the relocation part of its integration of the two companies in North America. Agfa-Gevaert's acquisition of Lastra closed at the end of August.

Agfa said it "remains committed to providing customers with ... YAG and violet photopolymer, thermal, chemistry-free CtP, as well as a full-line of conventional aluminum and polyester printing plates and associated chemistry and equipment."
