Agfa Upgrades Prepress in Singapore in Big CTP Sale

Posted
By: E&P Staff Agfa Graphics, Mortsel, Belgium, has signed an agreement with Singapore Press Holdings Ltd. to upgrade all prepress production at SPH's Singapore Print Centre.

"With 17 newspaper titles in four languages, SPH Print Centre has one of the most complex operations in our industry," said Tim Van den Bossche, President, Asia, at Agfa Graphics.

Agfa will install 10 high-speed Polaris XCV-S platesetters with automated Glunz & Jensen punch-benders and online central stacking system, making the print center one of the largest newspaper computer-to-plate sites. The agreement includes a two-years supply of N92v violet photopolymer plates.

SPH Print Centre houses four lines of KBA commander presses and four lines of Goss Colorliner presses in two separate press halls. The new CTP system will replace film-based platemaking in the two halls.
