By: E&P Staff The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has promoted Richard Hawes to senior director/production.
In charge of prepress, printing, packaging, building services, electrical, mechanical and maintenance for the company's two production plants, Hawes reports to Robert W. Eickhoff, senior vice president, operations.
The AJC is completing $30 million in press enhancements at its Gwinnett plant, and plans to close its Fulton plant by the end of this year. Announcing the promotion, Eickhoff called Hawes' contributions "critical to the continued success of the press enhancement project? and "instrumental in orchestrating efforts to consolidate and modernize our printing operations."
Hawes joined the AJC in 2006 as operations director. Before joining the paper, Hawes was a senior consultant with Austin Media Group, specializing in newspaper production and distribution. He earlier worked for The Washington Post for 24 years, holding a number of production and circulation positions.
