The American Jewish Press Association unequivocally condemns the horrific, unprovoked surprise attacks by Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip against the State of Israel. The AJPA stands in solidarity with the people of Israel as they grieve the lives of an estimated 700 men, women and children who have been killed and the thousands more who have been wounded, in addition to hostages taken. Sadly, the number of casualties is sure to increase in the coming days and weeks.
We send our support and sympathy to the families who are suffering as a result of these heinous actions and call for the immediate release and safe return of Israeli soldiers and civilians who were targeted by Hamas and taken hostage. AJPA also supports the efforts of the Israel Defense Forces to ensure Israel’s security.
We also pray for the safety of our journalist counterparts in Israel as they continue to cover this breaking news story, despite risks to their own well-being and possibly placing themselves in harm’s way.
