By: E&P Staff While most dailies have taken it on the chin again in today's FAS-FAX, The Times Union of Albany, N.Y., a Hearst paper, has reason to smile. It gained paid circ for the third straight six-month reporting period.
According to the latest Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC) reports, Sunday circulation grew 1.94% to 142,899 and Thursday increased by 1.92% to 111,826.
?Continuing to add new customers to our print products remains one of our top priorities," said Mark Aldam, Publisher and CEO for the Times Union, in a statement. ?To achieve individually paid circulation growth entirely from increasing home delivery subscriptions during the past 18 months is a testament to the vitality of the printed newspaper. To repeat this accomplishment required complete commitment from the entire newspaper, led by our circulation sales and marketing teams.?
The overall Sunday circulation gains include a home delivery increase of 2.27%, or 2,035 copies
?Increasing the audience we deliver, especially on the highest volume demand days, is essential for our advertisers,? Aldam said. ?Although growing circulation in print will remain a financial challenge during the years ahead, we believe innovative newspapers committed to serving their local markets can grow the number of customers served in print.?
