Alexis Buryk Named Senior VP/Advertising at 'NYT'

By: E&P Staff The New York Times appointed Alexis Buryk to senior vice president of advertising, effective immediately. She is replacing Jyll Holzman who has resigned for personal reasons.

Buryk, who was most recently group vice president of advertising, will oversee all advertising sales for the newspaper and the Web site, NYTimes.com. She reports to Denise Warren, chief advertising officer of the New York Times Media Group.

?[Alexis] has made significant inroads into every category of advertising she has ever managed and is an inspiration to her colleagues,? Warren said in a statement. ?Alexis is an outstanding successor to Jyll, who has made tremendous contributions in leading the Times ad team during the past seven years ? Jyll has our gratitude and admiration for all that she has done.?

Buryk was named group vice president of advertising in 2001. She joined the Times advertising department in 1977 and worked in positions of increasing responsibility before being named a vice president in 1993.

Holzman was appointed senior vice president of advertising for the Times in 1999. Previously, she served as vice president of advertising since 1995. Before joining the company, she held senior advertising positions at several consumer magazines including Children, Savvy Woman, Working Mother, and PC Magazine.
