Alison Draper Named Publisher of 'Quick'

By: E&P Staff Alison Draper has been appointed publisher of Quick, the free youth-oriented tabloid from The Dallas Morning News. She starts on March 20.

Draper was previously the publisher of the Dallas Observer, a weekly alternative paper.

"Alison has a proven track record of delivering results for advertisers who want to connect with younger readers," said Jim Moroney, publisher and CEO of the Dallas Morning News, in a statement. "Quick has been successful in delivering this younger audience since we launched it three years ago, and we are confident that she can build on that momentum going forward."

Draper started her career at the Dallas Observer in classified sales, later serving as advertising director and associate publisher. She became publisher in 2001. While she was publisher, Draper was also sales and marketing director for Village Voice Media, owner of the Observer.

Draper succeeds Laura Gordon, who held the dual roles of publisher of Quick and senior vice president of marketing at the Dallas Morning News. Draper will report to Gordon, who will continue to serve as senior vice president of marketing.
