Alwan, Bodoni Integrate Color-control Software

Posted
By: E&P Staff Alwan Color Expertise, Lyon France, and Bodoni Systems Ltd. of the United Kingdom offer a combined solution to speed makereadies, increase stability, save ink, and standardize output. The solution will be available from Alwan's approved resellers.

The offering integrates Alwan's CMYK Optimizer version 3 and Bodoni pressSIGN tonal-value- increase measurement and correction software for the press.

CMYK Optimizer enables printers to control and improve the printability of jobs by optimizing separations according to the process, press and paper used. Files standardized using CMYK Optimizer generate accurate proofs that are easy to reproduce on press while facilitating optimal printability, according to Alwan.

CMYK Optimizer version 3 with pressSign press calibration option allows prepress operators to use tonal value increase, neutral print density curve, or ICC-based press calibration, ensuring that output files are optimized to standardized printing presses, resulting in improved quality and shorter makeready. Version 3 also includes new image enhancement technology, integration and full support of the latest Adobe PDF Library, support of the latest Ghent PDF Workgroup specifications, support of the latest ICC specifications and requirements, a new HTML interface, and faster processing.

PressSIGN measures and controls on-press color and facilitates use of any international printing standard, according to type of press, paper, and appropriate dot gain curve, using default tolerances or by adjusting tolerances as needed. PressSIGN reads density and suggests the correct adjustment. It also provides tools to set the correct dot gain curve quickly.
