American Community Newspapers Adds Minnesota Paper

By: (AP) Minnesota Sun Newspapers-American Community Newspapers LLC has acquired the Monticello Times and Sunday Shopper.

The Monticello Times is a 3,300 paid weekly formerly owned by Donald and Nancy Smith. The Sunday Shopper is delivered to 26,000 homes in Wright and Sherburne Counties.

The Stillwater Gazette reported the acquisition on Wednesday.

American Community Newspapers is a group of 67 weekly suburban papers, two daily newspapers, and three niche publications. It operates as Minnesota Sun Newspapers in the Twin Cities, Sun Publications in Kansas City, Mo., and Star Community Newspapers in the northern Dallas region.

With this acquisition, the Minnesota group has 43 weekly newspapers and one daily newspaper.
