ANL Print Subsidiary Looks to Expand Business

Posted
By: E&P Staff Harmsworth Printing, a subsidiary of Britain's Associated Newspapers Ltd., is looking to leverage its new 200-million-pound printing plant by bidding for outside contract work, according to a story published Thursday in PrintWeek.

The print concern, the world's largest flexo newspaper operation, already has signed two customers for its new Didcot plant -- Trimedia Publishing's local titles the Oxford Journal and Basingstoke Observer -- and says it has room for more.

The move comes as outsourced newspaper printing grows increasingly popular here and abroad. In the United Kingdom, News Corp.'s Newsprinters operation recently signed The Daily Telegraph as a customer at its three new sites, and media group Trinity Mirror also is looking to offer printing services to other publishers, according to PrintWeek.
