By: Anthony Cook has been named managing editor of The Anniston Star, where he began his journalism career in 1993.
Cook returns to the Star after serving as assistant metro editor of The Birmingham News the past three years. A native of Munford, Cook worked as a reporter, assistant metro editor and metro editor at the Star before joining the News.
"In his years away, Anthony sharpened his skills as an editor at the state's largest daily, The Birmingham News, but more importantly, he knows us: how we work, how we worship, where we play and eat and use our leisure time," said Star Publisher H. Brandt Ayers in a story Sunday. "He knows us as only a native son can."
"We're pleased to have Anthony back at The Star," said Editor Bob Davis. "He is a good journalist who knows and cares about this community and has deep roots in it."
Cook became a minister in 2002 and is pastor at Christian Fellowship Bible Church in the Glen Addie community.
He fills a post at The Star most recently held by Phillip Tutor, who is now commentary editor.
