By: E&P Staff American Outsourcing Solutions of Dallas, Penn. has developed an application that lets outside sales reps show their customers ad previews on Apple?s iPhone.
The application, part of AOS? web-based ad production outsourcing system, allows reps to enter the system to check how far along ads are in the production process, and to pull up a display on the iPhone, as well as on other SMS phones.
The iPhone is a good choice, however, because it supports Ajax applications, so reps can expand the ad on screen, and even make changes to the ad electronically and send it back to the system, says Jan McDonald, an AOS founder. McDonald also points out that the iPhone is more compatible with the ad production industry, which works predominately on Macs.
AOS was launched earlier this year as a domestic competitor in the growing industry of outsourced ad production. The company has a production facility in Dallas where classified and display ads are produced.
Papers looking to outsource ad production come in two ?flavors,? according to McDonald: larger papers that are looking to cut costs by reducing production staff, and smaller papers interested in publishing the occasional speciality section or supplement and do not have the staff to create it.
?We can save them both 40 percent,? he asserts, and still keep the work in the U.S.
