AP, Dow Jones, McClatchy Newspapers Contending for Loeb Award

Two Associated Press stories will contend with entries from Dow Jones NewsWires and McClatchy Newspapers for the prestigious Gerald Loeb Awards for Distinguished Business and Financial Journalism, News Services category.


Judy D. Olian, chairman of the G. and R. Loeb Foundation Inc. and dean of UCLA Anderson School of Management, which manages the competition, announced these finalists in the category:

Ted Anthony, Christopher S. Rugaber, Mike Schneider, and Mike Baker for “AP: Economic Stress Index” in The Associated Press

Matt Apuzzo and Daniel Wagner for “AP: Geithner's Phone Records” in The Associated Press

Michael Rapoport for “Minding The Banks...And The Government” in Dow Jones Newswires

Greg Gordon, Kevin G. Hall, and Chris Adams for “Goldman, Moody's and the Collapse of the American Economy” in McClatchy Newspapers.

Finalists in the other 11 competition categories were announced on May 24, 2010.

Winners in the 13 competition categories will be announced at the 2010 Loeb Awards dinner on Tuesday, June 29, at Capitale in New York City.
