The New York Times, has been named assistant chief of bureau for The Associated Press in Chicago.
The announcement was made Thursday by James Reindl, chief of bureau for the news cooperative in Chicago.
Fritsch, 49, has been with the
Times since 1992, serving as a metropolitan reporter, Washington correspondent, assistant editor on "The Week In Review" section and, most recently, projects editor for the metropolitan desk. Fritsch was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 1994 for her stories about Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New York.
A native of Chicago, Fritsch has also worked for the
Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, Newsday, and the
Los Angeles Times. She holds master's and bachelor's degrees in journalism from the University of Illinois.
