By: Daryl Lang Investigators looking into accusations of police misconduct following Hurricane Katrina have filed a subpoena seeking photographs shot by New Orleans photographer Alex Brandon, who was then working for The Times-Picayune. Brandon now works for the Associated Press.
The Picayune
reported Saturday that federal agents are investigating the death of a 31-year-old man named Henry Glover, whose charred body was found inside his burned Chevy Malibu. Investigators are looking into whether police shot him and torched the car. Brandon, who was taking pictures at a school that police were using as a temporary headquarters the day Brandon was shot on Sept. 2, 2005, has been called to testify before a grand jury, according to the paper. The Picayune reports:
"Lori Mince, an attorney for the newspaper, said prosecutors have asked for any pictures he took at the school on that day. Mince said photographers' images normally are archived at the newspaper's office in New Orleans. But in the aftermath of Katrina, the newspaper was displaced. After the newspaper resumed normal operations, it collected the images its photographers shot and archived them. She said the newspaper does not have any photos taken by Brandon at Habans that show Glover or Tanner or the Malibu."
Brandon declined to comment to the newspaper.
