API Conference for Women Media Execs Set for July

Posted
By: E&P Staff The American Press Institute is once again offering a professional development program designed just for women.

"Authenticity -- The Retreat for Women Media Executives," will run July 25-29 at the Copperfield Inn in upstate New York. This is the second year API is offering this unique program.

The purpose of the tetreat is to help women draw fully on their leadership abilities and operate with greater authenticity and conviction. The Retreat provides access to role models, resources, ideas, and contacts that will help women media executives grow and advance.

"Women in this business -- women everywhere, I suspect -- need a week like this," Maria Carrillo, deputy managing editor of The Virginia-Pilot in Norfolk and an attendee last year, said in a statement. "We need to remember to embrace our strengths and stay focused, and empower ourselves to make changes in our organizations, so we can pave the way for others."

The program was developed specifically for women media executives by CorporateHOPE a consulting firm that specializes in helping high-potential and executive women thrive in their fields.

A schedule, more details about the seminar, and register information are available are API's Web site.
