API Sponsors Inland Study

Posted
By: Jennifer Saba The American Press Institute announced that it has agreed to sponsor the Inland Press Association's 2004 Survey of Weekly Newspaper Operations.

The study, which surveys a broad range of weekly newspapers and shoppers, tracks details like expenses, payroll and production costs and depends on a wide range of participants. Last year, 56 companies representing 162 papers filled out the survey yet the IPA wants to double that number for this year. The study does not publish the names of participants. Instead they are assigned numbers.

The API will interpret the results of last year's survey -- while trying to coax attendees to sign on for the future study -- at a seminar to be held June 13-17 in Reston, Va. This is the first time the API will sponsor the study.
