AP's Recruitment Head to Keynote Women Journos Annual Meeting in Chicago

By: E&P Staff Sarah Nordgren, who heads up global staff recruitment and retention efforts for The Associated Press and directs its State News Service, will be the keynote speaker at the Association for Women Journalists-Chicago (AWJ-Chicago) annual meeting Thursday Jan. 28.

Based in AP's Chicago office, Nordgren has directed state news coverage for the news cooperative since 2003. Last February, she was also appointed
deputy managing editor responsible for global recruiting. She leads a team that oversees the AP domestic news staff and heads the news cooperative's beat reporting efforts around the world. In addition, she coordinates recruitment, hiring and retention efforts for AP's global news staff.

Nordgren is a founding member of AWJ-Chicago, which is marking its 17th anniversary with Thursday's meeting.

The meeting, open to AWJ members, non-member journalists, students and the public, will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at CBS 2 Chicago's news studio a 22 W. Washington St. in Chicago.

Admission to the AWJ-Chicago's annual meeting is $17 for non-members and $10 for college students. It is free to members. To register for the event go to
