By: E&P Staff Newspaper publisher Lee Enterprises announced today that David Stoeffler will take a leave of absence and step down from his positions as its vice president of news and publisher/editor of its Arizona Daily Star in Tuscon.

Stoeffler, 46, cited personal and health issues as reasons for his leave. Mary Junck, Lee chairman and chief executive officer, said in a release that Stoeffler's successor would be appointed within a few weeks.

In 1995 he became editor of the LaCrosse Tribune and went on to edit the Lincoln Journal Star in 1997.
