'Aspen Daily News' Publisher Departs for ... Radio?

Posted
By: The publisher of the Aspen Daily News is leaving the newspaper after nearly four years to take an ownership position with a radio enterprise.

The Daily News reports that David Cook will be a managing partner of BS&T Wireless, which runs Aspen station KCUF-FM.

KCUF-FM started broadcasting as a commercial-free pop station in December 2006. 1 of Cook's jobs will be to oversee the launch of a second station and possibly commercialize both stations.

Cook says he'll stay with the paper for at least another month while the search for his replacement is conducted. Daily News owner Dave Danforth says he already has a short list of candidates in mind.

The Daily News has been forced to cut costs because of the recession, but Cook says his departure is not related to the economy or the newspaper's financial state.
