By: E&P Staff Atex, Reading, England, is installing its cross-media editorial solution at Independent News & Media, Dublin, Ireland, and Casa Editorial El Tiempo, Bogota, Colombia.
Owner of more than 165 print titles worldwide, Independent News & Media plans to use the new 800-seat installation to manage content and production of its Irish and British print and online publications, including London's The Independent, the Belfast Telegraph and Sunday Life, and Ireland's Independent, Evening Herald, Sunday Independent, Sunday World, and Herald AM.
The Atex solution uses Page Tracker and Atex Web Builder software to deliver Web and print pages from a single system. Its ability to export data in XML allows for "easy syndication, formatting, personalization and archiving," according to the company. The software allows users to automatically schedule the posting, expiration and archiving of Web content, and the browser-based Page Tracker monitors pages as they are built, providing real-time views, full-page content listing and item status.
In Colombia, Atex will install its content management solution in the newsrooms of Casa Editorial El Tiempo, which publishes the dailies El Tiempo, Portafolio, and Hoy, the biweekly 7 Dias, published in Tolima, Llano and Boyaca , and several magazines.
CEET recently completed a reorganized newsrooms to create a convergent, continuous publishing cycle, and will use the Atex solution to send media-neutral content to its print and online publications. The company's existing Atex installation will continue to support the group's paper-centric delivery channel, according to Atex.
