Atex Media Solutions and Media Command announced Thursday plans to merge July 24, with Atex shareholders controlling 55% of the new Atex Media Command.

Atex, headquartered in Bedford, Mass., will issue new shares and continue trading in Norway. Most top executives will remain, but Atex CEO Max Coebergh, who worked to realize the merger, will eventually leave to "pursue other interests," according to Atex.

Tampa, Fla.-based Media Command CEO Phil Lowe said the merged company will support customer systems regardless of age.

About three weeks ago, Media Command announced plans to buy the Barry Group consultancy. That deal is still expected to close, perhaps next week.

Atex provides digital advertising and content management solutions to media companies. Media Command offers systems for a variety of functions, including circulation, editorial, advertising, and production.
