Atex Upgrades Winnipeg, Supports JDA Sites

By: E&P Staff The 119,082-circulation Winnipeg (Manitoba) Free Press has gone live with the latest version of its advertising solution from Atex, Reading, England.

The Atex advertising XML Styler release provides fast database queries, reducing search time for customers who want to renew ads, Free Press Classified Administration Supervisor Darlene Kustra said in a statement.

Last month, Atex announced a technology alliance with JDA Software Group, supplier of a suite of demand-chain solutions for planning, permforming, flowing, pricing, managing and selling finished goods, from warehouse to customer.

The pact enables Atex to facilitate maintenance and support of JDA publishing customers in the Americas, giving Atex exclusive access to the source code for Engage ContentServer, an application within the JDA Portfolio suite that is used by several newspapers. Atex said those customers will gain increased support and software enhancements.

On July 1, Atex assumes maintenance and help-desk functions for Engage publishing customers who rely on products formerly known as Cascade DataFlow and Engage ContentServer. To manage the transition and ongoing support, Atex is increasing its customer support and development staff.

Announcing the agreement, Wayne Usie, JDA senior vice president, Americas, said it "enables our customers in the publishing industry to have access to a world class support staff, including some of the original designers and developers of the Engage product suite. We are confident that this alliance represents the optimal way to serve the publishing market while retaining our company focus on our core demand chain market of retailers and their suppliers."
