By: E&P Staff Pulitzer Prize winner Ben Sargent, editorial cartoonist for the Austin (Texas) American-Statesman for 35 years, is taking a buyout and leaving the newspaper. His last day is March 13, according to The Daily Cartoonist.
Sargent?s wife, Diane Holloway, who has long served as the Austin American-Statesman?s television critic, is taking a buyout as well.
An Amarillo, Texas, native, Sargent won his pulitzer in 1982 and was a finalist in 2001 and 2002. He has also received awards from Women in Communications, Inc., Common Cause of Texas, and Cox Newspapers. Sargent?s work is syndicated through Universal Press Syndicate.
