By: E&P Staff The Austin (Texas) American-Statesman is the latest paper that can be accessed on readers' iPhones, as The Statesman Co., the paper's parent company, announced Tuesday that the statesman.com iPhone application is now available for download.
"Austin is a mobile city in every sense of the word," Tim Lott, American-Statesman vice president/ digital media. "We built the Statesman app to better serve our growing iPhone audience."
The new app will allow readers to sort the news by topic, including sports, business, and technology. Users can also access the American-Statesman staff blogs, including Bevo Beat (which covers University of Texas Athletics), Austin Legal (which covers the local justice system), and Austin Music Source.
The American-Statesman joins the likes of the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, and USA Today in offering apps to iPhone users. In all, over 4,000 newspapers from close to 200 countries are featured on the iPhone.
