AWN LOSES ITS 'VOICE'

Posted
By: Lucia Moses The Village Voice in New York and its seven sister alternative weeklies are pulling out of the Alternative Weekly Network(AWN) to start their own national ad network as they seek more control over their national ad sales, the fastest growing ad category, and savings on commissions.
The AWN's 105 member papers sell ads across the group, and the seller takes a commission. The pullout will leave the AWN without members in five top markets, including New York and Los Angeles.
