By: E&P Staff German publishing group Axel Springer will install a CCI Europe NewsDesk editorial system in the newsrooms of German daily Hamburger Abendblatt.
Comprising 300-plus seats, the installation will be used to produce The Hamburger Abendblatt and sister publications Bergedorfer Zeitung, Elmshorner Nachrichten, Hamburger Wochenblatt and Nendorfer Wochenblatt.
The CCI system will be installed at Axel Springer's Berlin data center, where NewsDesk already is used to publish the group's Berlin newspaper titles.
Axel Springer expects that the move to a common editorial platform will result in reduced infrastructure costs and achieve support and maintenance synergies, according to CCI. It also replaces an aging front-end system and provides an integrated system for print, online, and mobile content distribution, and with ability to publish new products.
