The Axel Springer Global Reporters Network (ASGRN) is expanding with an editorial desk designed to deepen collaboration between newsrooms and accelerate major investigative and enterprise projects.
Stephan Faris, senior Enterprise editor at POLITICO, Jennifer Maloney, executive editor, Enterprise at BUSINESS INSIDER, and Claire Newell, investigations editor at THE TELEGRAPH, will join the ASGRN leadership team alongside their existing roles. Together with Senior Editor Tim Röhn, they will oversee major investigative projects and help shape the network’s long-term editorial strategy.
Additionally, Sebastian Beug, previously a news editor and reporter at WELT, will join ASGRN as associate editor. He will support the network’s day-to-day editorial operations and coordination across Axel Springer’s newsrooms.
The ASGRN brings together journalists from across Axel Springer’s newsrooms to collaborate on high-impact stories for publication across global brands that together reach hundreds of millions of people worldwide; recent additions to the core group of Global Reporters include Jonathan Calvert and Katie Roof.
As a further step in integrating ASGRN with other parts of Axel Springer, the network will also serve as a home newsroom for trainees from the Axel Springer Academy of Journalism and Technology. Julia Zabert, who began her training in July, is the first trainee to join ASGRN. She will pursue her own reporting projects and support cross-brand collaborations published by multiple Axel Springer newsrooms.
Tim Röhn, senior editor of the Axel Springer Global Reporters Network, said: “Our ambition is to become the leading force in exclusive and investigative journalism. Achieving that requires outstanding reporters — and we are fortunate to have them across the globe. It also requires an editorial infrastructure built around exceptional editors who have demonstrated their quality over many years. Establishing a dedicated editorial desk will provide additional capacity to support and streamline cross-border reporting and collaboration across the network.”
