Axios launching Axios Cincinnati and Axios North of Cincy

Axios is expanding its local coverage in Ohio by launching “Axios Cincinnati” and “Axios North of Cincy” July 20.

• Kristen Swilley and Casey Weldon have joined Axios to lead coverage in these markets.
• These represent the 40th and 41st markets for Axios Local.

Why it matters: Axios will now be providing a new source of journalism and information for the people who live and work in these areas.

• It’s part of Axios Local’s expansion during its 5th anniversary made possible by our partnership with OpenAI.

How it works: Swilley and Weldon will provide original coverage on key issues shaping life for residents of these markets. 

• They will send a free “Axios Cincinnati” newsletter on weekdays beginning July 20, and a free “Axios North of Cincy” newsletter, focused on Warren County, on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning July 21.
• They will report on both markets on Axios’ website and engage with the communities through local events.

Get to know the reporters: 

• Kristen Swilley is an Emmy-winning journalist and former television anchor with more than a decade of experience in local media. A Cincinnati transplant who now lives on the West Side, she began her career as a multimedia journalist and has earned recognition from the Society of Professional Journalists, the National Association of Black Journalists and the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. She is passionate about covering her adopted hometown and sharing the stories, quirks and hidden gems that make Cincinnati unique.
• Casey Weldon was born and raised in Ohio and has covered the Cincinnati region for more than two decades. After spending more than 20 years living in downtown Cincinnati, he now calls Middletown home. Casey has reported for the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Post, the Cincinnati Enquirer, WCPO-TV, Spectrum News Ohio and Movers & Makers Magazine, covering everything from breaking news and business development to local sports and culture. He also worked in communications for the City of Cincinnati.
