By: E&P Staff "The Amish Cook" column has spawned a new line of baked goods.
Oasis Newsfeatures, which syndicates Lovina Eicher's weekly feature to more than 130 newspapers, said the goods will be produced by Awrey Bakery of Michigan. That's the state where Eicher, an Amish woman, is based. Her column offers insights into Amish life as well as recipes.
"Awrey Bakery will give fans of the column a chance to actually experiences the recipes they read about," said Oasis' Kevin Williams, longtime editor of "The Amish Cook."
The bakery company will offer "Emma's cornbread," double-chocolate cake, cream cheese-frosted cinnamon rolls, Pennsylvania Dutch-style muffin cake, and more.
Also coming are "Amish Cook"-inspired dinner rolls from the Fort Wayne-based Indiana Baking Company and pies from the Ancaster, Ontario-based Oak Run Farm Bakery.
Meanwhile, the Indiana-based Richards Restaurants regional chain of eateries began offering "Amish Cook"-themed items on their menus July 1. The recipes are replicated from Eicher's column.
