The Baltimore Sun Guild announced via Instagram that it has filed additional unfair labor practice charges against The Baltimore Sun, accusing management of abandoning contract negotiations and attempting to impose unilateral decisions without bargaining in good faith. (@baltsunguild on Instagram)
In the post, the union claims that newsroom leadership has grown increasingly hostile toward union members, especially as the newsroom approaches its second year under new ownership. One recent flashpoint is a reported work rule that prohibits staff from displaying signs referencing collective bargaining — a move the Guild sees as a direct attack on union rights.
“This proud union won’t be silenced,” the Guild stated, reinforcing its commitment to pushing back against what it describes as anti-union tactics.
The ongoing conflict reflects deeper unrest within The Baltimore Sun newsroom, where journalists have been publicly challenging management decisions they say jeopardize both labor rights and journalistic integrity.
