The Barbados Advocate, in Bridgetown, has gone live with the ImageEd automatic color-correction system from Anygraaf, Frederick, Md., and Helsinki, Finland. Sale and installation was handled by Intergraph Corp., Anygraaf's Caribbean-area distribution partner.
After images have been color corrected using site-defined parameters, they are converted to either CMYK or grayscale, according to the channel chosen for each image, allowing a more streamlined and organized process and tonal consistency when published.
ImageEd works in three-dimensional color space for accurate, adjustment. The automatic process optimizes colors to preserve detail in fully saturated image areas, while analyzing sharpness and noise levels and adjusting details accordingly. In manual mode, ImageEd provides an easy-to-use color adjustment interface from which users may then fine-tune images.
Established in 1895, the Advocate is the island nation's second-oldest newspaper - a five-day tabloid published five days that circulates approximately 15,000 copies.
Based in Miramar, Fla., Intergraph is a full service graphic arts supplier specializing in press and prepress, including CTP, editorial and production software, film imaging, digital proofing and related supplies.
