'Barron's' Launches Digital Edition

Posted
By: NewsStand Inc. of Austin, Texas, today launched its latest electronic publishing client, Barron's, the financial weekly from Dow Jones & Co. Inc.

Barron's will deliver an exact digital replica of its print edition to subscribing customers' computers via the Internet. The electronic editions can be viewed using the NewsStand Reader. Barron's Vice President of Operations Michael Ahern expects great demand for the new NewsStand version, especially in those markets that don't receive Saturday delivery.

If the project is a success, Dow Jones might consider a NewsStand version of The Wall Street Journal, a spokesman said, but no decisions have been made.

To kick off the service, a promotional subscription price of $5.99 per month for the first two months is being offered. Thereafter, subscriptions will cost $11.99 per month. Single copies may also be purchased for $3.50 at www.barronsmag.com/bdd or www.newsstand.com.

Privately held NewsStand provides digital editions for a number of publications, including The New York Times, International Herald Tribune, and The Globe & Mail. Among its investors is the New York Times Co.
