Bay Area News Project Fills Key Exec Spots

By: E&P Staff The Bay Area News Project, a nonprofit based in San Francisco, has named Lisa Frazier as CEO and Jonathan Weber as editor-in-chief. The organization also said it will provide The New York Times with news for its Bay Area edition.

Frazier is currently a McKinsey & Co. partner and a core leader of the Media & Entertainment Practice. She is also an advisory board member to The Texas Tribune.

Weber joins the News Project from New West Publishing where he is the founder and CEO. He was also the co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Industry Standard.

The News Project is also a partner with U.C. Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. The Hellman Family Foundation provided initial seed funding for the News Project as well as support from the Knight Foundation.
