By: E&P Staff Cartoonist Johnny Hart will salute the PGA Tour's "Drive to a Billion" charity campaign in his July 12 and 13 "B.C." strips.
"Golf is one of my great loves, and I'm happy to use 'B.C.' to draw attention to such a worthy cause," said Hart, whose comic is distributed by Creators Syndicate.
The two strips will appear during the B.C. Open golf tournament in Hart's hometown of Endicott, N.Y. The tournament was named after the comic in 1971.
Hart will hit a ceremonial "Drive to a Billion" tee shot at the B.C. Open on July 13 -- using a replica 1938 driver to commemorate the PGA Tour's first recorded donation of $10,000 made 67 years ago. A "B.C." character will hit a similar shot in the special strips.
In addition to doing "B.C.," Hart collaborates with Brant Parker on "The Wizard of Id" comic for Creators.
