By: Staff Reports Broadcast Revenue Boosted By Olympics
Dallas Morning News publisher Belo said its earnings rose 5.6% in the third quarter as the company increased its Internet investments and acquisition-related costs.
Profits were $17.5 million, or 15 cents per share, up a penny from last year and in line with analysts' estimates.
Total revenue rose 13% to $390.3 million; adjusted for television acquisitions and dispositions, revenue rose 9.1%.
Newspaper publishing revenue rose 7.9% to $218 million, led by growth in Dallas and Riverside, Calif.
On an adjusted basis, broadcast revenue rose 12.8% to $169.9 million on the strength of political and Olympics advertising.
