By: E&P Staff Belo Corp. announced Friday that it's increasing the size of its board of directors to 14 members with the election of M. Anne Szostak.
Szostak, 54, lives in Providence, R.I., and recently retired from FleetBoston Financial after a 31-year career. She was Fleet's executive vice president and corporate director of human resources and diversity from 1988 until June of this year. In thatposition, she managed a $3.9 billion salary and benefit budget for 50,000 employees.
"Under Anne's leadership, Fleet has been widely recognized for its commitment to employees, talent development, and a diverse workforce," said J. McDonald Williams, lead director and chairman of the Belo board's executive committee, in a statement. "Belo shares this commitment and we will benefit from Anne's insights in this and all areas of Belo's businesses."
Szostak is a Class I director and her term lasts until May 2005, when she will be eligible for reelection.
