By: E&P Staff Belo Interactive Media President and General Manager Wesley "Wes" Jackson is stepping down, effective September 1. He was promoted to the position in March 2007.

Jackson is leaving the company to be closer to his family in Louisville, Ky., according to a press release.

"Belo is actively positioning its assets to embrace digital opportunities and I am honored to have participated in those efforts," Jackson said in a statement. Jackson was instrumental in bringing Belo into Classified Ventures and played a leading role in Belo's partnership with Yahoo. He will continue to represent Belo in all-related negotiations with Yahoo following his departure in September.

"Wes Jackson is an incredible talent whose contributions over the past seven years will have a lasting impact on Belo's online business," Donald "Skip" Cass, executive vice president of Belo, said in a statement. "We're disappointed that he will no longer be with Belo in a full-time capacity, but are pleased he will continue to serve in an advisory role."

Jackson joined Belo 2000 as vice president of advertising sales. He also served as vice president, general manager of Belo Interactive and senior vice president of the division.
