By: (AP) Belo Corp., publisher of the Dallas Morning News and other newspapers, said Monday that revenue rose 3.5% in November, led by contributions from newspaper advertising.
Total newspaper group revenue rose 7% in November from a year ago, led by an increase of 6.5% at The Dallas Morning News and 9.7% at The Providence Journal.
Television revenue grew slightly by 0.4%, with a lack of political ads exerting downward pressure. The company booked political ad revenue of $1.2 million, down from $2.9 million a year ago. Excluding political ads, television revenue grew 3.2% in November.
Belo shares rose 42 cents, or 2%, to $21.59 in early morning trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
