KnightRidder.com of San Jose, Calif., and Belo Interactive of
Dallas have announced that their relationship in the Real Cities
network will include 15 Belo Web sites, bringing the total number
of city sites in Real Cities to 55.
Belo Interactive first expressed its intent to join the Real
Cities network more than a year ago. Now, 15 sites --
representing three newspapers and 12 television stations -- will
become part of KnightRidder.com's strategy to attract national
online advertising dollars through a nationwide online network.
The partnership means that Belo Interactive will integrate Real
Cities' local directories as well as utilize KnightRidder.com's
existing digital distribution partners. Real Cities has
distribution deals with Palm, AT&T, and Yahoo!
The three newspaper sites joining Real Cities represent The
Dallas Morning News, The Providence (R.I.)
Journal, and The Press-Enterprise in Riverside,
Calif.
KnightRidder.com said the new additions from Belo increase the
Real Cities network's reach to 15 of the top 25 markets in the
U.S. Other noteworthy cities include St. Louis, Portland, New
Orleans, and Austin.
