Saturday night marked the last night of printing the Bemidji (Minn.) Pioneer on its 33-year-old Goss Community press. Printing moves Monday night to Forum Communications' plant in Detroit Lakes, according to publisher Dennis Doeden.

The paper has no Monday print edition, although news is updated on bemidjipioneer.com (which now has a package of comics, puzzles and horoscopes), with cell-phone and e-mail alerts.

Doeden assured readers in the Sunday edition that all content will still originate in Bemidji, where the editorial department will remain, as will advertising and customer service operations.

The change affects an unspecified number of pressroom and mailroom employees. The latter, according to the publisher, manually insert preprinted ads, for which there were 250,000 pieces representing more than 20 FSIs in the Sunday edition.
